David Okereke will rejoin Cremonese as Torino decided not to buy him after an unimpressive loan spell.

Eko Hot Blog reports that Nigerian striker David Okereke will rejoin his parent club, Cremonese, for the next season as Torino has opted not to exercise the option to purchase him permanently.

Former Nigeria U-23 forward David Okereke joined Torino on loan during the winter transfer window, with an option to buy.

However, Okereke struggled to make an impact, failing to score or assist in 248 minutes over nine matches, including three starts.

The deadline to activate the purchase clause in the five-month loan deal expired on June 14, and Torino decided not to exercise this option.

The club was reportedly disappointed with his performance and opted not to sign him permanently.

Cremonese, now in Serie B, failed to secure an immediate return to Serie A, losing to Venezia on aggregate in the Serie B playoff final on June 2.

Sources close to Okereke told Afrik-Foot that he is not keen on playing in Serie B and is contemplating a return to Belgium, where he has drawn interest.

Additionally, Turkish club Besiktas is reportedly interested in the 26-year-old striker.

Since joining Cremonese from Club Brugge in the summer of 2022, Okereke has netted 11 goals and provided five assists in 57 appearances across all competitions.
