“We must position Nigeria at the forefront of Africa’s progress, powered by technology, food sovereignty, and the courage to shape our destiny,” he declared.
He described his visit to Brazil as a strategic step to strengthen bilateral relations and learn from the South American nation’s impressive development journey, noting that both countries once had similar economic foundations.
“Once upon a time, Nigeria and Brazil were on the same level. Look at Brazil today, its technology, its food systems. We must ask ourselves: what do they have that we don’t? We have the brains, the energy, the youth. We have everything we need. Now we must act,” he said.

Commending the Nigerian diaspora in Brazil, Tinubu urged them to consider themselves key partners in building a new nation rooted in innovation, culture, and collective responsibility.
“You are the pride of our nation. Your diversity and your commitment reflect the Nigeria we are striving to build. I salute you all,” he said.
The President acknowledged the hardships citizens face due to ongoing economic reforms, stressing that they are necessary for long-term stability and prosperity.
“Yes, the reforms are tough like bitter medicine. But once the fever is gone, you know the cure was worth it,” Tinubu explained.
Highlighting his recent diplomatic engagements, Tinubu said his government is laying the foundation for global partnerships that could unlock Nigeria’s potential in manufacturing, technology, and cultural exchange.
He also expressed support for an upcoming voyage involving Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka, inspired by a cultural initiative he introduced as Lagos State governor.
“If Wole Soyinka, at over 90, can still dream and act, then we have no excuse. The dream must be realised. The time is now,” he affirmed.
Tinubu further appealed to Nigerians at home and abroad to promote unity, peace, and passion in order to build a country everyone can be proud to call home.
Earlier, Chairman of the Brazilian chapter of Nigerians in Diaspora, Chika Emmanuel, praised the President for deepening ties between Nigeria and Brazil while assuring him of the diaspora’s commitment to national development.
He stressed the diaspora’s contributions in agriculture, infrastructure, and investment, while also noting the growing number of Nigerian postgraduate students in Brazil.
“In the past one and a half years since my election, we have increased from three PhD students to 296 here in Brazil, all on scholarships,” Emmanuel said.
