The clampdown will target unauthorized use of tinted glass, revolving or strobe lights, sirens, and improper display or alteration of number plates by individuals and officials not entitled to such privileges.
“All unauthorized sirens and flashing lights should be removed without delay. Number plates must remain clear, legible, and properly fixed at all times. No bending, flipping, covering, sticker obstruction, or any form of alteration that makes them unreadable will be tolerated,” the statement emphasized.
Commissioner of Police, Abaniwonda Olufemi, assured residents that the operation would be handled with professionalism and respect for citizens’ rights. He noted that the move aims to curb road intimidation, improve deterrence against abuses, and enhance overall public safety.

To ensure compliance, the CP directed Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to oversee the enforcement closely and ensure civility in dealings with motorists.
The Command further advised drivers to carry all necessary documents, including driver’s licence, vehicle insurance, and proof of ownership, and to cooperate with officers during stop-and-search procedures.
Members of the public were also encouraged to report any misconduct by police personnel through the Complaint Response Unit hotlines provided.
