EKO HOT BLOG reports that El Rufai completed his registration on Thursday at the ADC office in U Sarki Ward, Kaduna, where he signed the necessary documents and received his membership card. His appearance at the ward office signalled a deliberate move to begin his engagement with the party from the grassroots.
The former governor had on March 10, 2025, announced his departure from the APC, citing a widening gap between his long held principles and the direction of the party’s leadership. In his resignation letter, he accused the leadership of drifting away from the values that guided the formation of the party.
He recalled the political movement that led to the 2013 opposition merger, saying the current structure no longer reflects the ideals of its founders. He added that his concerns, raised both privately and publicly in the last two years, were repeatedly ignored by the party’s leadership.
El Rufai was a central figure in the coalition that created the APC and his exit marked a significant shift in the political landscape of the ruling party. His move to the ADC further confirms his break from the political establishment he once helped build.
