Participants are set to receive intensive training from seasoned experts on livestock production fundamentals, disease identification, feed formulation, fish farming, farm business management, and other key skills needed to expand the sector.
Speaking at the opening session, the Lagos State Coordinator of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, Dr. Mariat Sholaye, described the intervention as timely and impactful.
She noted that the programme “couldn’t have come at a better time when we are trying to raise the GDP of Nigeria through the livestock sector.”
Highlighting the federal government’s renewed focus on livestock development, she encouraged participants to maximize the opportunity, stressing: “Learn as much as you can and put into practice whatever you’ve learned.”
Dr. Sholaye also commended Rep. Wale Raji for consistently prioritizing agricultural growth in the constituency.
She urged trainees to justify his efforts, adding: “Let him look back and be happy that he has achieved something, especially in the livestock sector in the Epe Federal Constituency.”
In a light-hearted advisory on the support items to be given to participants, she remarked: “Please use it for livestock. It’s not to go and marry another wife or to have more children.”
The programme is expected to further strengthen Epe’s livestock value chain and equip farmers with modern skills to boost productivity.
