Military sources confirmed the development on Wednesday, revealing that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken over negotiations.

Officials expressed optimism that the intervention would lead to a peaceful resolution and the safe return of the detained officers.
The Nigerian Embassy in Ouagadougou has already opened talks with officials of the junta-led government, according to ministry spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa.
