Rehabilitation work on the vandalised 33kV power line from Ibeju to Okegun Madagbayun is progressing steadily as the Ibeju-Lekki Local Council Development Area intensifies efforts to restore electricity to affected communities along the Okegun axis and its environs.

Eko Hot Blog reports that speaking on the development, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki LCDA, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, said the project involves the complete rebuilding of the damaged transmission line, including the installation of new poles, replacement of wires, and other critical components required for safe and stable power transmission.
“The focus of this rehabilitation is to rebuild the entire damaged line so that power restoration will be sustainable and reliable for our people,” he said.
Hon. Olowa explained that the intervention is part of his administration’s deliberate effort to restore essential public services and strengthen infrastructure that supports daily living and economic activities within the council area.
“Electricity is central to development, and restoring power to these communities will greatly improve livelihoods and economic productivity,” he added.
Residents of the affected areas have welcomed the progress of work, expressing optimism that the prolonged outage will soon come to an end.
A community member noted that “the ongoing rehabilitation has renewed our hope that businesses and households will return to normal once power is restored.”
The Ibeju-Lekki LCDA assured residents that work is ongoing and that further updates will be provided as the project advances.
