A fire outbreak on Monday gutted an open yard used for metal scrap recycling at No. 15, Pipeline Road, off Ekoro Road, in the Abule Egba area of Lagos State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that although no fatalities were recorded, the inferno destroyed several valuables and affected nearby structures.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the incident occurred at about 1:00 p.m. According to the agency, emergency responders from the Agege and Abesan fire stations were immediately deployed after a distress call was received.
The Controller-General of the service, Mrs Margaret Adeseye, said preliminary findings indicated that the fire started from an open space used for local recycling activities.
She disclosed that the flames spread beyond the recycling yard, damaging a nearby residential bungalow and a mini church within the vicinity.
Adeseye added that one adult woman went into shock during the incident but was promptly treated and stabilised by emergency responders at the scene.

She said the fire was eventually brought under control, preventing further destruction, while investigations had commenced to determine the exact cause of the outbreak.
The fire service boss reiterated the agency’s commitment to protecting lives and property and advised residents and operators of informal industrial facilities to comply with fire safety regulations to prevent future incidents.
