Eko Hot Blog reports that the Governor is reportedly taking a personal interest due to potential risks to nearby residents.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service received a distress call at about 8:29 pm on Sunday, according to Controller-General Margaret Adeseye. Firefighters arrived at the scene by 8:40 pm, deploying teams from the Ajegunle, Sari Iganmu, Okota, and Alausa stations to tackle the blaze.
“The affected warehouse was stocked with chemical materials stored in hundreds of 200-litre drums, posing a significant risk,” Adeseye said, adding that swift and coordinated intervention helped prevent damage to neighbouring facilities. No casualties were reported, though the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Damilola Oke-Osanyitolu, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), said preliminary findings suggest that chemicals stored in the warehouse triggered the fire. The blaze reportedly started behind the SAPID Container Terminal at Mile 2.
Eyewitnesses reported explosions as the fire raged. One local resident said the fire began near the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, beside the Lacasera company, and that initial access to the warehouse was delayed because it occurred over the weekend.
“The fire started on this side, which faces the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway. By the time the gate was opened, the blaze had already grown too intense,” the resident said. Another observer described intermittent explosions that prevented people from approaching the scene.
A portion of the warehouse, believed to house administrative offices, was partially affected. Authorities have pledged to carry out a thorough investigation to ensure safety compliance and prevent future incidents.
Adeseye urged residents and business owners to adhere strictly to fire safety regulations to safeguard lives and property.
