“We are all connected one way or the other. We must continue to live together. What binds us together supersedes what separates us,” Shettima said.
The Vice President, who was in Plateau for the grand reception of Governor Caleb Mutfwang and other prominent politicians into the All Progressives Congress (APC), highlighted the important role of traditional rulers in society.
“They are not just custodians of our cultural heritage. They also uphold society by preaching peace among their subjects,” he said.
Shettima praised the cordial relationship between APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, an indigene of Plateau, and Governor Mutfwang, describing their cooperation as a positive development for the state.
“The National Chairman, who opposed the Governor in the last election, has now pledged full support to him. With this realignment, the state will enjoy more dividends of democracy and peace,” he added.

Expressing confidence in the political collaboration, Shettima said it would enhance the state’s image, sustain peace, and contribute to national stability. He also thanked the people and government of Plateau for their warm reception.
Governor Mutfwang commended the working relationship between President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Shettima, noting that it sets a strong foundation for the country’s progress.
In his remarks, Gbong Gwom Jos appealed for continued security efforts to address challenges in Plateau and other parts of Nigeria. He urged Nigerians to respect one another, emphasising that both Islam and Christianity condemn violence and insurgency.
“Why should we foment trouble or harm each other when we all believe in Almighty God?” he asked, while expressing appreciation for the realignment of APC leaders as a positive step for the state and nation.
Shettima’s entourage included Prof. Yilwatda, Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Idris Wase, members of the Plateau State Council of Chiefs and Emirs, and several prominent indigenes.
