EKO HOT BLOG reports that the meeting, which lasted over four hours, ended with the governors endorsing key party programmes, including the timetable for upcoming congresses and the ongoing national electronic registration and digital membership update exercise.
Reading the communiqué to journalists after the meeting, Imo State Governor and Chairman of the PGF, Senator Hope Uzodimma, said the forum reviewed and endorsed the timetable and institutional framework earlier approved by the party’s National Executive Committee NEC for the conduct of ward, local government, state and zonal congresses, as well as the national convention.
Uzodimma said the governors commended the APC National Chairman for the nationwide e registration drive, noting that the exercise had recorded significant growth in party membership, especially among young people across the country.
According to the communiqué, the integration of National Identity Number verification into the registration process is expected to strengthen data driven planning, improve demographic insights and deepen grassroots engagement across states and communities.
“The Forum reaffirmed its collective commitment to deepening internal democracy, strengthening party structures, and advancing reforms that promote transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness within the APC across all levels of the federation,” the communiqué read.
The governors also stressed the importance of transparent and coordinated financial management in the conduct of party congresses and conventions. They noted that proper financial oversight would ensure fairness, consistency and accountability across all states, including those not governed by the APC.
The communiqué further stated that the PGF reaffirmed its commitment to party unity and internal harmony, urging responsible leadership communication and collective discipline as key tools for strengthening public confidence in the party’s democratic processes.
The forum also announced plans for a series of strategic engagements and state visits aimed at reinforcing grassroots party structures, enhancing cohesion and supporting progressive governance across the federation. The engagements are scheduled to begin with a visit to Taraba State.
In addition, the governors formally welcomed the governors of Taraba and Plateau states into the Progressive Governors Forum. The move, according to the communiqué, reflects the resolve of APC governors to work closely with the party leadership to advance national development and democratic consolidation.
The PGF expressed appreciation to the APC National Chairman, National Secretary and members of the National Working Committee for what it described as constructive engagement. The governors pledged continued collaboration with the party leadership to deliver a credible, transparent and unifying congress and convention process.
Other governors present at the meeting included Nasir Idris of Kebbi, Agbu Kefas of Taraba, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, Monday Okpebholo of Edo, Uba Sani of Kaduna, Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi, Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto, Babajide Sanwo Olu of Lagos and Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom.

Governors Dikko Radda of Katsina, Babagana Zulum of Borno and Muhammad Yahaya of Gombe were represented by their deputies.
