Environmental authorities in Ogun State have shut down a petrol station at Moore Junction, Asero, after it was found to be operating in violation of state environmental regulations.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the enforcement exercise was carried out on Wednesday by the Ogun State Ministry of Environment Task Force, led by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Environment, Tolu Poviwhede.

Poviwhede disclosed that the facility failed to meet key environmental and public health requirements, notably the absence of a toilet, which is mandatory for public service establishments under existing environmental laws.

He stressed that the state government would not condone practices that endanger public health or the environment, especially by facilities such as filling stations that serve large numbers of people daily.

“Every business operating in Ogun State must comply with environmental standards. Operating without basic amenities like toilet facilities is unacceptable, and such violations will attract immediate sanctions,” he said.
The filling station has been sealed and served with compliance notices, while the task force warned that similar enforcement actions will be sustained across the state to ensure full adherence to environmental and safety regulations.
