Her husband, Mathew Adeleye, and their daughter were also injured during the incident.
The attack, which occurred around 5:00 a.m. near a popular school in the neighbourhood, caused panic among residents, who fled their homes as the situation escalated.
Sources in the community said the altercation stemmed from a disagreement over rent between the suspect and the deceased’s husband, who was a tenant in a building owned by Awe’s father. The dispute had reportedly been ongoing after tenants were allegedly issued quit notices even though their rents had not expired.

Speaking from his hospital bed, the husband of the deceased said they had already begun making arrangements to relocate before the incident occurred.
“We had started looking for another apartment after we were asked to leave. We even secured a new place and were preparing to move that Thursday,” he said.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Command, Abayomi Jimoh, said the victims were rushed to the General Hospital in Ore, where medical personnel confirmed Motunrayo Adeleye dead.
He added that the injured husband and daughter are currently receiving treatment, while the body of the deceased has been deposited in the hospital morgue. The suspect, according to the police, is in custody as investigations continue.
