The victim, whose identity has yet to be confirmed, was said to have been burnt beyond recognition.
Sources said the man had allegedly lodged in the room of a female occupant believed to be engaged in commercial s3x work.
Reports indicate that before the fire broke out, the woman stepped out to purchase some items and locked the man inside the room, as hotel management rules reportedly prohibited male guests from staying overnight in the facility.
The fire, believed to have been triggered by a power surge, engulfed a building comprising two flats with three bedrooms each. Thick smoke filled the structure, making escape difficult.
Spokesman of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, said preliminary findings linked the outbreak to a sudden power surge after electricity supply was restored.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the fire was attributed to a power surge, as the outbreak reportedly occurred immediately after power supply was restored, leading to rapid fire spread across the building,” he said.
Adekunle added that firefighters responded promptly and brought the situation under control within minutes.
Operatives of the Department of State Services are said to have commenced investigations into the incident.
