Four members of the House of Representatives have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party and the Labour Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the lawmakers are Inuwa Garuba, who represents Yamaltu Deba Federal Constituency of Gombe State, Abdullahi El Rashed of the Dakku Nafada Federal Constituency of Gombe State, and Mohammed Audu representing Karim Lamido Lau Ardo Kola Federal Constituency of Taraba State. The three lawmakers left the Peoples Democratic Party to join the All Progressives Congress.
Also, Obika Chinedu, who represents Abuja Municipal Bwari Federal Constituency of the Federal Capital Territory, defected from the Labour Party to the All Progressives Congress.
Similarly, Adewale Adebayo, representing Irepodun Olorunda Osogbo Orolu Federal Constituency of Osun State, formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the Accord Party.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, read the defection letters during Wednesday’s plenary, stating that the lawmakers cited internal crises in their former political parties as the reason for their decision.
Meanwhile, the senator representing Rivers West Senatorial District, Ipalibo Banigo, has also resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party and joined the All Progressives Congress.
Banigo announced her resignation during plenary at the Senate on Tuesday, March 10, stating that her decision was influenced by her intention to align politically with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

In a letter read on the floor of the Senate by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, the lawmaker said her decision was also aimed at supporting efforts to advance development in Rivers State.
Banigo further explained that her defection followed extensive consultations with her constituents and political associates.
