EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Kano State Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Waiya, disclosed this on Friday while presenting the governor’s donation of food items and cash to the victims’ families in Bunkure Local Government Area.
He said a dedicated account tagged “Uromi-16” had been created for the disbursement of compensation to the affected families, adding that all payment arrangements had been finalised.
Waiya explained that the earlier delay was due to the former chairman of the Uromi Committee and Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam, who failed to carry out the necessary steps.
According to him, each of the 16 victims was allocated ₦300,000, while 12 injured persons received ₦200,000 each, alongside food items provided by the Kano State Government.
He said, “Kano State Government assured that the Edo State Government has concluded all plans to commence payments of life compensation for the 16 Uromi hunters killed while on their way from their businesses.
“Governor Yusuf had for the last year directed that something be given to them, but his directive was not implemented by the chairman of the committee.”

Speaking on behalf of the community, the District Head of Bunkure, Aminu Isha Umar, expressed appreciation for the intervention, noting confidence that Governor Yusuf would secure the compensation from the Edo State Government.
He commended the governor for his continued support for residents of the state, particularly those in Bunkure Local Government Area.
