Trump had declared on Saturday that he would order strikes on Iranian power facilities if the strait was not fully accessible for shipping within 48 hours.

Responding on Sunday, Iran’s armed forces said that any assault on its power plants would prompt a full closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which would remain closed until damaged facilities are restored.
The military also indicated that Israeli energy and communication installations, as well as regional companies with US investors, could become targets.

“Power plants in countries hosting US bases in the region will be legitimate targets for us,” the statement added.
Earlier, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf warned via social media that attacks on Iranian energy infrastructure could lead to the “irreversible destruction” of critical facilities across the Middle East.
