EKO HOT BLOG reports that Amusan, widely known for her dominance in the 100m hurdles, delivered a strong performance in the 200m, clocking a season’s best of 23.25 seconds to finish behind a competitive field.
Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson-Herah won the race in 22.61 seconds, while fellow Jamaican Ackera Nugent placed third with a time of 23.35 seconds.
The race marked Amusan’s first competitive outing since the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, where she secured a silver medal to emerge as Nigeria’s only medallist at the event.
Her performance in Jamaica provides an early indication of her form as she prepares for a busy international season.
Amusan is expected to return to her primary event, the 100m hurdles, at the Prefontaine Classic scheduled for July 4 in Eugene.
The Diamond League meet at Hayward Field is set to feature a strong lineup, including Olympic champion Masai Russell, two-time world champion Danielle Williams, and World Championships bronze medallist Grace Stark.
Eugene remains a memorable venue for Amusan. She set the current world record of 12.12 seconds and won her first world title there at the 2022 championships, before returning to claim the Diamond League final title in 2023.

The 28-year-old remains one of the leading figures in women’s hurdling, having won the Diamond League final for three consecutive years from 2021 to 2023.
