- Kwankwaso’s Move to ADC Overhyped, Driven by Ambition – Lagos APC
- Says Kwankwaso’s decision is linked to his long-standing desire to secure either a presidential or vice-presidential ticket
- Warns against what it described as opportunistic defections that may distract from governance
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has reacted to reports that former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has defected to the African Democratic Congress, describing the move as overblown and driven by personal ambition.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, the party said the defection should not be seen as a major political shift.

Instead, it argued that the move appears to be more about individual political interests than national development.
According to the Lagos APC, Kwankwaso’s decision is linked to his long-standing desire to secure either a presidential or vice-presidential ticket, suggesting that the move is a strategic attempt to advance his personal goals.
The party also questioned the strength of the Kwankwasiyya movement, claiming it has weakened over time following the exit of key figures, including influential leaders in Kano State.

It added that true political relevance should be judged by the ability to build lasting alliances, maintain trust, and deliver tangible results.
Reaffirming its stance, the APC said it remains committed to disciplined and principle-driven politics, warning against what it described as opportunistic defections that may distract from governance.
The party concluded that the development raises more questions about political motivations than it offers any real shift in Nigeria’s political landscape.
