A Federal High Court in Enugu has sentenced a 24-year-old man, Iziga Jude Ikechukwu, popularly known as Easy-money, to one year in prison for abusing the naira during his birthday celebration.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the judgment was delivered by Justice F. O. Giwa-Ogunbanjo after he was prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Ikechukwu was arraigned on March 26, 2026, on a one-count charge of mutilating naira notes amounting to ₦81,700. According to the charge, he was seen in a viral video dancing and stepping on the money at a hotel in Enugu State during his birthday celebration.
He pleaded guilty to the offence.

Following his plea, the court sentenced him to one year imprisonment, with an option of a ₦300,000 fine. The court also ordered that the ₦81,700 recovered from him be forfeited to the Federal Government.
The offence violates provisions of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, which prohibits the abuse and mutilation of the nation’s currency.
The convict, a palm kernel dealer, was arrested on February 28, 2026, after authorities tracked him through the viral video showing the act.
