Similarly, the Scrap Dealer Employers’ Association, represented by Ibrahim Musa, called for collective action against vandalism, while pledging to collaborate with authorities to sanction erring members and rid the system of bad actors.
The Area Commander, Area I Command, Assistant Commandant of Corps Samuel Idoko, alongside divisional officers, engaged participants by addressing concerns and providing clarity on operational strategies.
Earlier, the Lagos State Commandant of NSCDC, Adedotun Keshinro, represented by Deputy Commandant Kolawole Agbetiloye, emphasised that the engagement, which ran from January 20 to March 31, was crucial in strengthening grassroots efforts to protect national assets.
He explained that the initiative was designed to bring campaigns against vandalism, illegal dredging, illegal mining and unlawful scrap dealings closer to communities.
Keshinro further urged the Scrap Dealers Association to regulate its members effectively and ensure strict compliance with regulations, warning that erring individuals must be disciplined or deregistered to protect the integrity of the group.
The engagement underscores the growing emphasis on community collaboration as a key strategy in tackling infrastructure vandalism and enhancing security across Lagos State.
