The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has launched an investigation into allegations that some of its officers extorted ₦100,000 from commercial bus drivers along the Coastal Road.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the claim was made on social media by an individual identified as Tosin, who alleged that officials of the agency arrested commercial buses and demanded payment before releasing them.

Reacting, LASTMA said it takes such allegations seriously, emphasising that it does not tolerate misconduct, abuse of office, or extortion.
The agency confirmed that a thorough and impartial investigation has already commenced.
“This inquiry has commenced in earnest, and the Authority assures the public that any officer found culpable upon the conclusion of due process will face the full weight of the law,” said Adebayo Taofiq, Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment.
He also called on the accuser to assist with the probe.

“In furtherance of this process, the individual identified as Tosin is invited to appear at the Office of the General Manager at LASTMA Headquarters in Oshodi with concrete and verifiable evidence to substantiate his claims, as the burden of proof rests on the accuser,” he added.
The agency reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and professionalism, while urging members of the public to report any misconduct through appropriate channels.
LASTMA further assured residents that it remains dedicated to maintaining order, fairness, and respect for road users across the state.
