Residents of Epe may soon experience improved electricity supply as the Lagos State Government has unveiled plans to transition the area to a 132KVA power system as a long-term solution to the persistent outage.
Eko hot blog reports that the Honourable Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Biodun Ogunleye, made this known during a stakeholders’ engagement, noting that the proposed upgrade is aimed at addressing the structural weaknesses of the current distribution network.

According to him, the existing infrastructure has proven inadequate to meet the growing demand for electricity, thereby necessitating a comprehensive upgrade to a more efficient and reliable system.
“The transition to a 132KVA system is a strategic long-term solution that will significantly enhance power stability and distribution across Epe communities,” he stated.
While outlining the long-term plan, the Commissioner also assured residents of efforts to provide interim electricity supply to cushion the effects of the prolonged blackout, especially ahead of the Ileya festival.
“We are making deliberate efforts to ensure that residents have access to temporary power supply in the meantime, while work continues on sustainable solutions,” he added.
He further emphasized the importance of collaboration among stakeholders, noting that government alone cannot resolve the crisis without the support of communities in protecting critical infrastructure and ensuring compliance with regulations.
The planned upgrade, alongside short-term intervention measures, is expected to bring relief to residents and businesses who have endured months of power outage, while also laying the foundation for a more stable and sustainable electricity system in Epe.
