The Nigeria Police Force in Plateau State has presented cheques worth N28,509,182 to the families of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the presentation was made at the Command Headquarters in Jos by the Commissioner of Police, Bassey Ewah, who said the support is meant to assist the dependents of the deceased officers.

Ewah, who represented the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, explained that the funds were provided under the Group Life Assurance, Group Personal Accident, and the IGP Family Welfare Scheme.
He noted that the gesture is a way of recognising the sacrifices made by officers who died while serving the nation, adding that the support is intended to ease the burden on their families.
While expressing sympathy to the bereaved families, the police commissioner said no amount of money can replace the lives lost, but assured that the force remains committed to the welfare of its personnel and their loved ones.

He also advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the funds as they await other entitlements that will be paid in due course.
