A young child at the centre of a disturbing viral video is now safe, after the Lagos State Government stepped in to rescue her from a situation that had sparked concern among residents.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the toddler, who appeared weak and malnourished in the video circulating online, was reportedly abandoned and neglected following claims by her mother that she was a witch.

In the footage, the child was seen in a distressing condition, wearing only a diaper and drinking from an unclean container; images that quickly drew outrage and sympathy from the public.
Concerned neighbours had earlier raised the alarm, calling for urgent intervention and sharing details of the child’s location in the Ipaja area of Lagos.
Responding to the growing concern, the state government confirmed that officials moved swiftly to verify the situation and rescue the child.
According to the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Print Media, Ridwan Ajetunmobi, the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, led efforts to locate and secure the child.

The toddler is now in the care of the Lagos State Government, where she is expected to receive proper attention and support.
Authorities have also launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, as many Nigerians continue to call for justice and stronger protection for vulnerable children.
