Epe Local Government has ramped up efforts to promote public health with a community-wide sensitization campaign in commemoration of the 2026 World Immunization Week.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the exercise, held on Monday, April 27, 2026, was carried out in collaboration with Afrihealth, as officials and health workers moved across various communities to educate residents on the importance of immunization.

Representing the Executive Chairman, Hon. Princess Surah O. Animashaun, the Vice Chairman, Hon. Sikiru Owolomoshe, led the outreach alongside key government functionaries and healthcare personnel.

The team engaged residents directly, encouraging them to take advantage of the ongoing free vaccination services available at all Primary Health Centres and designated outreach points.
Speaking during the campaign, the Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Leke Awolesi, reassured the public of the safety and effectiveness of vaccines, emphasizing that “the vaccines are safe and effective, and parents and caregivers must ensure their children are fully immunized.”
The council reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the health of residents, urging widespread participation in the exercise. According to officials, “this initiative is crucial in preventing disease outbreaks and protecting our communities.”
Residents across Epe have been encouraged to actively participate as the Local Government continues to prioritize accessible and quality healthcare for all.
