EKO HOT BLOG reports that Ferguson, 84, had arrived at the stadium ahead of the high-profile clash but required medical attention less than an hour before kick-off. Medics initially attended to him in the Stretford End tunnel before he was moved into an ambulance for further checks.
Sources said the hospital visit was precautionary, with early indications suggesting he was stable. One source stated that Ferguson was sitting up in the ambulance and was “okay,” although the club did not issue an official comment.
The former manager remains a regular presence at Old Trafford, where he frequently watches matches from the directors’ box. Since retiring in 2013, Ferguson has continued to serve as a club ambassador and remains the most decorated manager in Manchester United’s history.
The incident is not believed to be linked to the brain haemorrhage he suffered in 2018, which required emergency surgery at the time.

Reflecting on that experience in the documentary Sir Alex Ferguson: Never Give In, Ferguson said, “There were five brain haemorrhages that day. Three died. Two survived.
You know you are lucky.”
