EKO HOT BLOG reports that the decision was taken during the NWC’s 188th meeting held on Wednesday, where members resolved to deem the president as duly screened in accordance with the party’s constitution.
In a statement issued after the meeting, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the committee relied on provisions of Article 13.4 (xiii) and (xiv), which empower it to organise primaries and grant waivers in special circumstances deemed to be in the best interest of the party.
The party explained that the move was influenced by the widespread endorsements and votes of confidence Tinubu has received from key stakeholders, including the Progressive Governors Forum, members of the National Assembly, and other organs of the APC during the party’s National Summit held on May 22, 2025, and subsequent engagements.
According to the statement, Tinubu, as the incumbent president and leader of the party, had already undergone screening ahead of the 2022 presidential primaries. It added that requiring him to appear again before a screening committee would be unnecessary.

The APC maintained that the decision aligns with internal party processes and reflects confidence in Tinubu’s leadership ahead of the next electoral cycle.
