According to him, Tinubu introduced major reforms during his tenure as governor of Lagos State, which changed the organisation of Hajj activities in the state.
“There is no way we can talk about Hajj in Lagos without mentioning Mr President because he refined the Hajj system during his time as governor,” Jebe said.
He explained that before 1999, pilgrims from Lagos were transported through private agents, but Tinubu changed the process by directing that pilgrims should register through their local government councils.
Jebe added that the president also introduced Islamic scholars to educate and guide pilgrims during the pilgrimage exercise.
He further stated that Tinubu began the practice of providing rams and adequate feeding for Lagos pilgrims during the Arafat exercise, a tradition he said has been sustained by successive administrations.
The governor’s aide noted that Sanwo-Olu has further improved pilgrims’ welfare by upgrading accommodation arrangements for Lagos pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.

“Sanwo-Olu has gone further by upgrading our tent from the regular camp used by many Nigerian pilgrims to a more comfortable B-plus category with better facilities,” he said.
He added that the Lagos State Government contributes additional support to ensure the pilgrimage is more convenient and comfortable for residents of the state.
Jebe also praised the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria for maintaining a strong relationship with state pilgrims boards across the country.
According to him, the collaboration between NAHCON and state officials has remained smooth and effective throughout the Hajj operations.
