The victims were identified as Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul. Their whereabouts remain unknown as of the time of filing this report.
Adelabu, who recently left President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet to contest the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Oyo State, was said to have been informed of the incident shortly after it occurred.
Confirming the abduction, Adelabu’s media aide, Femi Awogboro, disclosed that the matter had been reported to security agencies and efforts were ongoing to secure the safe release of the victims.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Awogboro described the incident as unfortunate and appealed to law enforcement authorities to intensify efforts toward rescuing the abductees.
According to the statement, Mrs. John-Paul, 43, was abducted at about 7:30 a.m. by armed men while transporting her children to school. The gunmen reportedly took both the mother and her twin sons away.

The statement further revealed that Mrs. John-Paul is the youngest of five children born to Mrs. Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke Adelabu.
Until her voluntary retirement in 2025, she served at both the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian. Following her retirement, she relocated to Ibadan with her children while making arrangements to join her husband, Mr. John Paul, who resides in the United States.
Efforts to obtain an official response from the Oyo State Police Command were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
