According to the ministry, preventive measures already in place include enhanced screening at airports, seaports and land borders, strengthened disease surveillance systems, activation of emergency preparedness structures, improved laboratory readiness and continuous training for healthcare workers.
As part of the protocols, incoming travellers are required to complete health declaration forms detailing their recent travel history and possible exposure risks.
The ministry explained that travellers displaying symptoms associated with viral haemorrhagic fevers during thermal screening exercises would be immediately isolated for further medical evaluation, testing and referral where necessary.
It further revealed that rapid response teams have been placed on standby for deployment at both national and sub-national levels to strengthen disease surveillance, detection and response efforts across the country.

The ministry added that it is actively monitoring public health alerts, verifying reports and investigating rumours related to Ebola and other infectious diseases.
While urging citizens to remain calm, health authorities advised Nigerians to avoid spreading unverified information, maintain proper hygiene practices and rely only on official channels for accurate public health updates.
