A devastating road accident in Adamawa State has claimed the lives of six people, including four serving members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), after two vehicles collided and burst into flames.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the tragic incident occurred along the Narehi axis of Girei-Song Local Government Area when a military gun truck travelling from Gombi to Yola reportedly collided head-on with a commercial Hummer bus heading from Yola to Mubi.

Authorities confirmed that the impact of the collision caused the commercial vehicle to overturn before it was engulfed by fire, trapping its occupants.
The Adamawa State Police Command disclosed that all five passengers in the commercial bus lost their lives in the inferno. Preliminary investigations identified four of the victims as serving corps members deployed to Adamawa State for their national service.
Police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said the command also confirmed the death of a military personnel who was travelling in the military vehicle involved in the accident.

According to him, security operatives and emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and worked together to evacuate the victims.
The remains of the deceased were subsequently taken to the Specialist Hospital in Yola, while authorities continue efforts to establish the identities of all the victims and contact their relatives.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved families, the Nigerian Armed Forces, the NYSC and all those affected by the tragedy.
The fatal crash has once again raised concerns over road safety and the recurring loss of lives on Nigerian highways.
