EKO HOT BLOG reports that NANS made its position known in a statement released in Abuja, where it alleged that the TIB movement had strayed from genuine advocacy into political interest.
The student body also claimed that the movement’s activities now appear to be influenced by political considerations rather than independent activism.
President of NANS, Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, dismissed reports questioning his student status, describing them as false and misleading. He affirmed that he is a student of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology.
Afeez further accused Sowore and the TIB movement of blending activism, journalism, and politics in a manner that obscures their true intentions, adding that the group is increasingly perceived as a political organisation.
He also alleged that some individuals have linked the movement to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN), though no evidence was provided to support the claim.
The NANS president stated that the association would not collaborate with Sowore or the Take It Back movement in any protests related to the kidnapping of students and teachers.
He commended the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) for their roles in supporting victims of abduction.

According to him, NANS remains committed to advocating for the release of kidnapped students and will continue to hold the government accountable for ensuring their safety.
Despite the disagreement, he stressed that the student body remains committed to peace and will not support any form of violence or disorder in the country.
