The Epe Local Government has introduced a night-time restriction on the movement and operation of motorcycles (okada) and tricycles (keke napep) across the council area as part of efforts to strengthen security and safeguard residents.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the announcement was made by the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Princess Surah O. Animashaun, FHTI, following extensive consultations with security agencies and key stakeholders on measures to address security concerns and maintain public order within the community.
According to the new directive, all motorcycle and tricycle operators are permitted to operate only between 6:00am and 10:00pm daily. Consequently, any form of movement or commercial operation involving motorcycles and tricycles beyond 10:00pm has been strictly prohibited.
The council explained that the decision forms part of ongoing initiatives aimed at curbing night-time criminal activities, improving security surveillance, and ensuring the safety of residents and visitors across Epe Local Government.
The administration stressed that all riders, transport unions, park operators, and other stakeholders in the transport sector are expected to comply fully with the directive.
It further warned that any individual or group found violating the regulation would be subjected to appropriate sanctions in accordance with the law.
The local government disclosed that security agencies, including the Police and other relevant security formations, have been duly notified and mandated to ensure strict enforcement of the directive throughout the council area.
The administration noted that the regulation was introduced in the interest of public safety and community development, adding that reducing unnecessary movement at night would assist security agencies in effectively monitoring activities and responding to potential threats.
Hon. Princess Surah O. Animashaun reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to maintaining peace, protecting lives and property, and creating a secure environment that supports economic growth and social development.
The council appealed to residents, transport operators, and community stakeholders to cooperate with authorities and comply with the directive, emphasizing that the measure is designed to sustain peace, order, and security across Epe Local Government.
The new regulation takes immediate effect and applies to all motorcycle and tricycle operators within the local government area.
