President Bola Tinubu has directed the immediate strengthening of security at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Plateau State, following a recent attack that claimed the lives of two soldiers and a police officer.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the directive was conveyed on Friday by Vice President Kashim Shettima during a visit to the institute, where he addressed participants of the Senior Executive Course (SEC) 48 on the President’s behalf.
Shettima said the attack had reinforced the Federal Government’s determination to safeguard strategic national institutions and enhance protection for security personnel.
He expressed condolences to the families of the fallen officers, describing their sacrifice as a service to the nation that would not be forgotten.

According to the Vice President, President Tinubu has ordered the immediate activation of emergency security measures at NIPSS and directed the institute’s Director-General to work closely with the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) to reinforce the facility.
He added that the President also instructed the preparation of a comprehensive security plan covering surveillance, access control, personnel deployment and emergency response systems.
The plan, he said, must be submitted to the Office of the Vice President within 72 hours, while weekly progress reports will be required until the project is completed.
Shettima described NIPSS as a vital national institution whose security must remain a top priority, stressing that the government would not allow criminal elements to disrupt its activities.
He assured staff and course participants that their safety remained paramount, promising that the welfare of the families of the slain security personnel would also receive government attention.

The Vice President commended participants of the Senior Executive Course for remaining calm and disciplined during the attack, saying their conduct reflected the qualities expected of future national leaders.
He also praised the Director-General of NIPSS, Professor Ayo Omotayo, for his prompt coordination with security agencies, which ensured reinforcements arrived quickly and prevented further damage.
The Director of Studies, Barrister Nima Salman Mann, was equally commended for effectively coordinating the safety of staff and participants throughout the incident.
Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who also spoke at the event, thanked the Federal Government for its swift intervention and described the Vice President’s visit as a strong show of solidarity.
The governor approved the institute’s request for the creation of a buffer zone around the facility and pledged support for the installation of security lighting and other protective infrastructure.
Earlier, the Director-General of NIPSS appealed for additional security support, including more personnel and the installation of CCTV cameras, noting that the attack exposed the vulnerability of critical government institutions and underscored the need for stronger security measures nationwide
