President Bola Tinubu has called on governors of the six Northeast states to strengthen efforts to tackle terrorism and banditry, saying sustained collaboration is crucial to restoring peace and promoting development in the region.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the President made the appeal on Thursday while receiving a delegation of political leaders and senior government officials from Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Tinubu said the fight against insecurity requires unity and cooperation among all levels of government, stressing that only a collective approach can overcome the nation’s security challenges.
He expressed optimism about Nigeria’s economic outlook, stating that the country has achieved greater stability and entered what he described as a new phase of growth and progress.
According to the President, his administration remains committed to improving the economy, strengthening social welfare and sustaining democratic governance.
Tinubu also highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects in the Northeast, citing the Akwanga–Bauchi–Gombe–Biu–Maiduguri Superhighway as evidence of his administration’s commitment to fulfilling campaign promises in the region.
He assured pensioners that efforts were ongoing to clear outstanding pension liabilities inherited from previous administrations.
The President also paid tribute to former Vice President Babagana Kingibe, recalling his contributions to Nigeria’s democratic journey and progressive politics.
Earlier, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, who led the delegation and chairs the Northeast Governors’ Forum, said the visit was to appreciate Tinubu for retaining Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election.
Zulum described the decision as a demonstration of the President’s confidence in loyalty, competence and effective leadership, noting that Shettima had served the administration with dedication.
He also thanked political leaders from the North-Central and North-West for supporting the choice of a vice-presidential candidate from the Northeast.
The governor further commended the Federal Government for ongoing infrastructure projects, support for internally displaced persons, investments in agriculture, education and employment programmes across the region.
He reaffirmed the Northeast’s support for President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressing confidence that the region would back the party in the 2027 general election.
Speaking on behalf of elder statesmen from the region, Babagana Kingibe pledged continued support for the Tinubu administration, saying respected community leaders remain actively engaged in guiding public opinion and promoting national unity.
