A 28-year-old widow, Tosin, has accused members of her late husband’s family of threatening, assaulting and intimidating her while allegedly attempting to take over his property just eight days after his death.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the case, which gained widespread attention after it was shared on X by activist Harrison Gwamnishu, has drawn the intervention of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), which confirmed that a suspect has been arrested.

A video shared online showed a man identified as Tosin’s father-in-law padlocking the gate of the family’s residence, allegedly preventing the widow from entering the property.
According to Gwamnishu, Tosin’s husband died on July 20, 2026. He alleged that shortly after his death, the deceased’s father, mother, brother and sister-in-law moved into the house located in Igbo Oluwo Estate, Ikorodu.
He further claimed that the family ordered the widow to move her belongings and those of her two young sons into a single room while allegedly sharing some of the deceased’s personal belongings and making plans to sell his car.
Describing the situation as heartbreaking, Gwamnishu said the widow now fears for her safety and that of her children.
He called on the Lagos State Government and the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency to protect the widow from intimidation, unlawful dispossession and any attempt to deny her children their late father’s inheritance.
Reacting to the viral report, the DSVA said it immediately established contact with the widow after becoming aware of the allegations.
The agency disclosed that Tosin alleged she had been subjected to threats to her life, physical assault and intimidation following her husband’s death.
It added that the matter had already been reported at the Owutu Police Division and that it had begun working with the police on the investigation.
