Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has described the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a political platform increasingly attracting some of Nigeria’s finest minds.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Atiku made the statement on Monday in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, while addressing supporters at the party’s final mega campaign rally ahead of the state governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.

He urged voters across Osun State to support the ADC candidate, Najeem Salaam, saying the party would provide effective and responsible leadership if elected.
According to Atiku, the ADC offers a different political alternative from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Accord and other parties contesting the election.
He said his decision to attend the rally personally was aimed at appreciating Osun voters for their previous support and appealing to them to back the ADC in the forthcoming election.
Atiku told the crowd that he was confident voters would have no regrets if they entrusted the state’s leadership to the ADC.
He also commended party supporters for their strong turnout, saying their enthusiasm had strengthened his belief that the party could secure victory at the polls.
The rally attracted several prominent ADC figures, including former Osun State Governor and ADC National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola, as well as the party’s National Chairman, David Mark.
Aregbesola told supporters that the ADC was entering the election on its own platform and had not entered into an alliance with any other political party. He expressed confidence that the party would win the governorship contest.
The ADC candidate, Najeem Salaam, is a former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly.
The August 15 election is expected to be closely contested, with Salaam of the ADC facing incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party and Bola Oyebamiji of the APC.
