Scores of Nigerians on Saturday risked their lives by scooping petrol after a tanker spilled its contents along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, near the Ibadan-Ijebu-Ode Road.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that residents, including women, reportedly rushed to the scene with buckets, jerrycans and other containers to collect the spilled petroleum product.

Some of the residents were seen scooping fuel from drainage channels where the product had accumulated, despite the risk of fire, explosion and other hazards.
The incident attracted the attention of personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, and the Fire Service, who moved to secure the area and prevent further danger.
Emergency responders worked to contain the spill and manage the risks at the scene, particularly as more residents gathered around the tanker.
The incident once again highlights the dangers associated with fuel spills and the risks residents take when attempting to collect petroleum products from accident scenes.
