Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has described his victory in Saturday’s governorship election as a triumph for democracy and the people of the state.

Speaking in a video posted by TVC News on X, Adeleke said the victory represented the appreciation of the people for what he described as his administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education and agriculture.

“I feel great. First of all, I thank God Almighty for what has happened today. It’s a victory for democracy in Nigeria. A victory for Osun people that stood by me and said, Imole, you have done a lot for us,” he said.

Adeleke added that the people had acknowledged his administration’s efforts in delivering what he called dividends of democracy.

The governor won 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas in the election, according to the results announced by the State Returning Officer, Prof Joshua Ogunwole, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti.

INEC declared Adeleke winner after he secured 511,067 votes, defeating his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who polled 444,815 votes.
