The 55th Alara, who is also the 6th Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR; the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu; his subjects; well-meaning individuals; organisations; and groups for their continued support for Ilara Kingdom.
According to him, the support received from various stakeholders has contributed significantly to the implementation of his developmental plans for the kingdom.
Highlighting some of the achievements recorded during his reign, Oba Ogunsanwo said, “To God be the glory! The last six years have been full of great achievements for Ilara Kingdom, Epe Division and Lagos State as a whole. In the last six years, there have been some modest achievements. I called them modest in terms of infrastructure, education, youth and women engagement and empowerment, creating an enabling environment for economic growth, and some other noble achievements.”
The monarch described his six-year reign as a great honour and expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for his support for Ilara Kingdom.
He also thanked Governor Sanwo-Olu for his support and for appointing him as the 6th Chancellor of LASU, describing the appointment as a significant milestone.
“We are very grateful for that because that appointment made me the first traditional ruler to occupy that exalted position since the establishment of that great institution,” he said.
Speaking on ongoing and proposed projects in the kingdom, Oba Ogunsanwo listed the Integrated Solar Project, Naval Base, Federal College of Complementary and Traditional Medicine, and a stadium being developed by the Lagos State Government in Ilara.
He further disclosed that the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) had approved a new Primary Health Centre for Ilara, while land had also been allocated to the Nigerian Navy for a shooting range.
The monarch appreciated various leaders and stakeholders for their contributions to the development of Ilara Kingdom and Epe Division, noting that their collective efforts had continued to position Ilara among the thriving and developing communities in Lagos State and Nigeria.
Oba Ogunsanwo also used the occasion to encourage the people of Ilara Kingdom, Epe Division, Lagos State and Nigeria at large to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate actively in the forthcoming 2027 general elections by voting for candidates of their choice.
Earlier, during the inter-religious prayer session, Christians and Muslims gathered to offer thanksgiving to God for the monarch, Ilara Kingdom and its people, as well as to appreciate God for the progress recorded over the past six years.
The Alara commended his wife, HRH Olori Bolanle Ogunsanwo; the Alara-in-Council; the Council of Baales; religious leaders; members of his ruling house; and the people of Ilara and Epe Division for their unwavering support towards his reign and the development of the kingdom.
