Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, says the financial reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu have improved the ability of state governments to fund development and meet their obligations to workers and pensioners.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Radda made the remarks in Katsina during the Tinubu/Dikko Assured 2027 Islamiyya Teachers’ Empowerment Programme, where a school was inaugurated alongside the virtual commissioning of 45 solar-powered streetlights.

According to the governor, Katsina has been able to undertake projects valued at more than N30 billion without obtaining loans. He said the state had also remained capable of paying salaries and pensions as they fall due.

Radda contrasted the current situation with previous years when the state had to depend on borrowing to meet its financial commitments, saying the difference showed the impact of prudent management and recent economic reforms.
He argued that the effectiveness of any administration should be judged by what it delivers to the people rather than by political claims or criticism.
The governor said Tinubu’s reforms, particularly the push for greater financial independence at the local government level, had helped states improve their capacity to implement projects and fulfil their obligations.
He also encouraged residents, private organisations and wealthy individuals to support government development programmes, noting that public authorities could not single-handedly meet every need within their communities.

Radda further warned against misinformation, urging citizens to distinguish between genuine criticism and narratives intended to discredit development efforts. He also challenged political aspirants to offer workable plans rather than relying solely on criticism of those in government.
The governor used the occasion to commend the Tinubu/Dikko Assured initiative for supporting education and grassroots development. He specifically praised its empowerment programme for teachers working in Islamiyya schools.
Radda additionally announced that he would personally give N10,000 to each of the 690 beneficiaries under the programme. The donation, initially amounting to N6.9 million, was increased to N7 million.
Former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, also spoke at the gathering, stressing that the welfare of citizens should remain central to political leadership.
Masari said the achievements of both the federal and Katsina State governments deserved recognition, pointing to infrastructure projects being undertaken across the country.
He mentioned the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and other major road projects as examples of investments that could improve transportation, stimulate commerce and open up opportunities for farmers and businesses.

The former governor also highlighted improvements along the Kaduna-Abuja highway, describing better road infrastructure as important to economic growth.
Meanwhile, Umar Zayyad, Director-General of Tinubu/Dikko Assured, said the organisation had expanded its activities to provide greater assistance to teachers and beneficiaries within Islamiyya schools.
Zayyad linked the organisation’s activities to the leadership of President Tinubu and recalled the President’s positive assessment of the Radda administration during his visit to Katsina.
He said the state government’s ability to undertake projects worth more than N30 billion without resorting to borrowing demonstrated the importance of financial discipline and urged residents to continue supporting initiatives aimed at improving living conditions.
