One person has been killed following a clash between suspected thugs and security personnel attached to Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, in Osogbo, Osun State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the incident occurred on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, shortly after Governor Ademola Adeleke visited the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, at his palace.

Adeleke was accompanied by his nephew, Davido, during the visit to the traditional ruler following the governor’s victory in the August 15 governorship election.
According to the Osun State Police Command, trouble started after a suspected political thug identified as Adebayo Taoreed, popularly known as “Small Rugged,” allegedly attempted to gain access to Davido but was stopped by members of the singer’s security team.
The confrontation reportedly attracted other suspected gang members, who allegedly attempted to override the security personnel and temporarily blocked the entrance to the palace.
The situation reportedly escalated into an exchange of gunfire before the governor’s convoy was able to leave the area safely.
Police spokesperson DSP Abiodun Ojelabi said the suspected gang members later moved away from the palace area towards Ayepe.
Shortly afterwards, a 60-year-old man identified as Tajudeen Yusuf was allegedly shot in the Ita-Olokan area of Osogbo.

Police officers were mobilised to the scene, where Yusuf was found with gunshot injuries. He was taken to the University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, where he was pronounced dead.
The police said a full-scale investigation had commenced to identify and apprehend those responsible for the shooting.
The Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Samuel Etaifo, condemned the incident and assured residents that the command would deploy available resources to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Meanwhile, Davido distanced himself and the governor from the confrontation.
Reacting to the incident on X, the singer said the fight occurred outside the palace and had nothing to do with him or Governor Adeleke.
The police have continued investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the identities of those involved.
