President Bola Tinubu has formally congratulated Nigerian football administrator Samson Adamu on his appointment as the Acting General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Adamu’s elevation to the role, which was officially announced on March 29, 2026, marks a historic shift in the continent’s football governance.
President Tinubu noted that the appointment affirms Nigeria’s enduring influence and professionalism within the 54 member associations of CAF.
Before this appointment, Adamu served as CAF’s Director of Tournaments and Events, where he earned praise for his strategic oversight of major continental competitions.
