The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced a strategic adjustment to its primary election timetable as preparations for the 2027 general elections intensify.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a joint statement released on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, by the National Organizing Secretary, Chinedu Idigo, and National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party revealed that the screening of aspirants, originally slated for mid-week, will now take place between May 16 and May 17, 2026.

According to the new directive, the publication of screening results is set for May 17, with a window for appeals opened on May 18 and 19.
The final list of cleared candidates is expected to be public by May 20. The party also outlined a clear structure for post-primary appeals, scheduling legislative appeals for May 22, governorship for May 23, and presidential for May 26.
To streamline the process, presidential and governorship hopefuls will undergo their screening in Abuja, while legislative aspirants are to report to their respective state capitals.
This reshuffle comes at a time of high political activity within the opposition ranks.

Beyond the calendar shifts, the ADC reiterated its commitment to internal democracy and inclusivity by maintaining reduced fees for marginalized groups.
The party advised all participants to take note of the new venues and deadlines to ensure a smooth transition into the primary voting phase.
As the political climate heats up, the ADC’s leadership maintains that these changes are necessary to ensure a fair and logistically sound selection process for all candidates.
