Airlines are considering giving Comfort Emmanson a goodwill role after her public apology over a mid-air incident.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the government softened its stance after Emmanson expressed genuine remorse, prompting the withdrawal of criminal charges and lifting of her lifetime travel ban.

On August 10, Emmanson’s altercation with Ibom Air crew on a Uyo–Lagos flight made national headlines. She was accused of assaulting a crew member, removing safety equipment, and causing damage on board before being escorted off and charged.
By August 13, Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo revealed that the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) were exploring the idea of appointing her as an “Ambassador for Good Passenger Conduct.” The goal, he said, is to turn a negative event into a public lesson on airline etiquette and respect for crew.
This approach follows the same template used with Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde, also being considered for a voluntary ambassadorial role after a controversial airport incident. According to Eko Hot Blog, officials noted that both cases reflect a move toward rehabilitation rather than punishment.

If confirmed, Emmanson’s role would be unpaid and voluntary, requiring her to speak publicly about her experience and encourage courteous behaviour in airports and on flights. The initiative is part of a wider push by aviation regulators to improve passenger–crew relations, with FAAN, NCAA, and airline operators holding new training on conflict resolution and safety.
This shift from strict punishment to constructive engagement sends a clear message: while unruly conduct will not be tolerated, genuine remorse can open the door to redemption and a second chance to make things right.
