The Airport Police Command has revealed its intention to commemorate fallen officers during the 2026 National Police Day, which is themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust.”
According to the Command’s spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohammed Adeola, who shared the update on X on Friday, the celebration will not only pay tribute to officers who lost their lives in service but will also aim to deepen relationships with the public, particularly within the aviation sector, Eko Hot Blog gathered.

Activities lined up for the event will begin on Monday, March 30, with a sanitation and environmental cleanup exercise. This will be followed by a walkathon on Tuesday, March 31.

On Wednesday, April 1, officers will engage in public awareness campaigns, interacting with drivers and other stakeholders around the airport.
On Thursday, April 2, families of deceased officers will be recognized with the presentation of cheques in appreciation of their loved ones’ sacrifices.
The week-long celebration will conclude on Tuesday, April 7, at Eagle Square in Abuja, where a grand finale featuring a ceremonial parade, tactical demonstrations, and other displays of police expertise will take place.
Speaking on the significance of the event, the Commissioner of Police for the Airport Command, Ogunbode Olufunke, noted that National Police Day serves as a moment to remember fallen heroes while also encouraging a new generation of officers to uphold professionalism and community-oriented policing.

She emphasized that building strong relationships with the public remains essential for effective policing, adding that the activities are designed to boost trust and cooperation between the police and the communities they serve.
The Command also noted that the planned events reflect the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, to strengthen community engagement and improve public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
Reaffirming their commitment, Ogunbode stated that the Command is fully prepared to take part in the celebrations, using the opportunity to honor fallen officers and reinforce the principles of service, dedication, and trust that define their work.
