A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Ejeh Udeh, has been shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Otukpo, Benue State.
The attack occurred around midnight on Monday at his residence in the Ugboju area of Otukpo. According to reports, the assailants, who arrived on a motorcycle, ambushed the politician as he returned home and immediately opened fire.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that eyewitnesses said Udeh was surrounded and shot multiple times in the presence of his family members, leaving the community in shock and fear. He died on the spot before medical help could reach him.
His body has since been deposited at the Otukpo General Hospital morgue.
The motive behind the killing is not yet known, and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Security operatives in the area have not issued an official statement, but residents have called for swift investigations and justice to deter further violence.
Udeh’s death adds to the growing concerns over insecurity and targeted killings in Benue State and across the country. Political watchers say the killing of an APC chieftain in the state could heighten tensions as Nigeria heads into another political cycle.
Community leaders have appealed for calm while urging authorities to step up security measures in Otukpo and surrounding areas.
