The former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party said that despite current political headwinds, El-Rufai’s record in public service and clarity of vision remain evident.

He also offered prayers for strength, peace and divine guidance for the former governor in the years ahead.
El-Rufai has recently drawn public attention following an attempted arrest at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport and invitations reportedly extended to him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission.
After returning to Nigeria from Egypt, he made allegations involving the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and requested clarification over claims of a planned importation of thallium sulphate from Poland.
In a letter addressed to the National Security Adviser, El-Rufai described the chemical as highly toxic and subject to strict regulation, calling for transparency.

He sought details on the purpose of the substance, its supplier, authorisation procedures, quantity and concentration, storage plans, and regulatory oversight involving agencies such as the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
He maintained that his inquiry was made in good faith and aimed at strengthening public confidence in national institutions, adding that copies of the letter were forwarded to relevant authorities.
Reports indicate that the Office of the National Security Adviser has asked El-Rufai to provide evidence of the alleged procurement to the Department of State Services for further review.
