Nigerian Army has arrested a blogger, Mark Chidiebere, popularly known as “Justice Crack,” along with several soldiers over alleged incitement and the spread of misinformation.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the development was disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Appolonia Anele.

According to Anele, the arrests followed complaints shared by the blogger on social media concerning the feeding conditions and welfare of soldiers.
She said preliminary investigations showed that the blogger engaged some soldiers in discussions allegedly aimed at stirring discontent within the ranks.
“Some of the exchanges are considered to border on subversive conduct,” she said.

Anele noted that such actions pose a serious threat to military discipline and national security.
She explained that the blogger was arrested alongside the soldiers involved to aid ongoing investigations, adding that the affected personnel are being handled in line with military procedures and regulations.
The Army spokesperson further disclosed that the blogger has been handed over to civil authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.
“The Nigerian Army remains committed to the rule of law and due process,” she added, assuring that the military would continue to collaborate with relevant agencies to ensure justice is served.
